Finding Mikey
A 10 Step Guide to Finding your Compatible Canine
CLIENT SUCCESS STORIES
If you are looking for a dog trainer for your dog, please allow me to recommend, Nikki Finn-loudenslager, ON THE RIGHT TRACK DOG TRAINING. Nikki has been working with my Foster Fail Rescue Bagsy for approximately 3 mos. He was unable to walk on a leash, could not cross the threshold of the front door, could not load in a vehicle, he would freeze once he was outside his yard, his one command was to sit. I can say with confidence, Nikki with her caring, kindness, patience, and expertise in training, Bagsy, as of today, walks on a leash, loads in the car beautifully, follows sit, stay, wait, commands. He crosses the front door thresh hold like a champ. It is without hesitation, I highly recommend Nikki. Your dog will be so much better and happier with training.
Shelley & Bagsey
Nikki does great. She makes suggestions that are understood by her people and dogs. Our dog trusted her and seemed to pick up her messages quickly. She has made a difference in our lives. Thanks Nikki.

Nikki Finn-Loudenslager with On the Right Track Professional Dog Training helped us recently with our 9 year old Havanese mix. We adopted him 3 months ago and he demonstrated pulling on the leash and some aggression toward other dogs. Nikki listened and explained the “dog psychology” behind his actions. After the first session where Nikki taught us how to reward desired behavior, he’s doing much better. We highly recommend Nikki, we learned even more during the second session and will continue to utilize her services.

Frequently Asked Questions...
What is your training philosophy?
I use Science Based Training Techniques founded on principles of animal behavior and learning. This approach is rooted in understanding how dogs learn and respond to different stimuli. From there Positive Reinforcement , which involves rewarding a dog for exhibiting the desired behavior will be the primary focus for teaching new behaviors which can include treats, praise, toys, or any positive stimulus that motivates your dog. Any training plan aimed at modifying a dog's fearful or anxious responses will incorporate techniques such as Desensitization and Counter Conditioning. The goal is to shift your dog's emotional reactions to specific triggers, fostering a more positive and calm demeanor
What credentials and certifications do you have?
I have held the title of Certified Dog Behavior Consultant from the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC) since 2018. As part of this certification, I am committed to ongoing professional development, requiring me to accumulate Continuing Education Units (CEUs). This commitment ensures that I stay ontop of the latest advancements in the science of dog behavior, allowing me to provide the most current and effective solutions for my clients.
How much experience do you have?
I've been involved in the world of canine care and behavior since 2009,
working with dogs in diverse environments and roles throughout my professional journey.
What types of behavioral issues do you specialize in?
My experience extends to addressing a variety of complex behavior challenges, including fear-based aggression, intra-household aggression, resource guarding directed at both pets and humans, and leash reactivity, among others.
How do you involve me as the dog owner in the training process?
I take on the role of a coach rather than simply a trainer, emphasizing my ability to equip you with the skills to instruct your dog effectively. This approach has consistently proven to yield successful outcomes, recognizing that you, as the owner, play a pivotal role in your dog's responses and the creation of a harmonious life together. While I'm always ready to step in and demonstrate, the essence of our sessions lies in your active participation. I encourage and guide you to be heavily involved in the training process, ensuring a collaborative and successful learning experience for both you and your dog. I'll provide you with specific skills to practice between our sessions, and we'll review your progress and discuss the assignments during our next meeting.
What is the typical duration of your training programs?
The majority of my clients opt for the 4-session package, and approximately 50% choose to extend their training with an additional set of 4 sessions. Many clients, having gained confidence in their abilities, find themselves highly satisfied and equipped to work independently toward their training goals after the initial 8 sessions. However, recognizing that each journey is unique, I am always delighted to offer continued support for those who benefit from additional sessions beyond this point.
Do you offer group classes or private sessions?
I offer remote and In-home private sessions only at this point in time. Occasionally I do hold group classes for the City of Show Low.
When is the payment due and what methods do you accept?
Payment is expected at the end of each session for the pay-as-you-go option, or at the end of our initial session when selecting one of our training packages. We accept payments through Check, Venmo, Zelle, and Cash. Please note that refunds are not provided for training packages; however, if you need to temporarily pause your training, rest assured that our packages do not have an expiration date.
Do you charge for cancellations?
While I strive to accommodate flexibility for rescheduling and cancellations, it's important to consider that I operate within a business framework with limited time slots available for each client. Please be mindful that any sessions canceled with less than 24 hours notice will incur the full session rate. I appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Are you insured?
Yes, On The Right Track Dog Training is an insured business.
